Dams & Sires
Meet the parents
The health of our dams and sires is pivotal to our breeding program. We have completed all of the recommended DNA testing for the breed, including EOPRA, GM-1, JDCM, MO, and prcd-PRA. All of these tests ensure that your puppy will have top quality genetics befitting AKC standards and will come to you happy and healthy. We back up each puppy that we sell, so each puppy will come with a 2-Year Health Guarantee that assures that your puppy will be free of any life-threatening genetic health issues. bear
Papa Bear is a fun and loving companion with so much excitement to share. When Bear is happy, he wiggles with his whole body. If he had a choice to be outside or with the family in the house, he would choose to be with the family. He follows us around wherever we go just hoping to get a scratch on his head or a rub on the belly. He is very friendly with everyone and loves to play with other dogs wherever he goes. Bear is especially wonderful with kids. There are 5 young children ranging from 3-10 years old in our family, and he is always gentle and so patient with everyone. Bear loves to learn new tricks and is quick to please. We love his brown patches, freckles, and his beautiful long white tail. He is the perfect daddy dog with a wonderful temperament and stunning coat. Bear weighs in at 50 lbs.
moose
Moose is our sweet, gentle boy with a playful spirit and calm demeanor. From the start, his affectionate nature and love for toys have shone through. He almost always has a toy in his mouth and is impressively discerning—he knows socks, shoes, and pillows are off-limits. Moose is incredibly smart and learned within a week to ring a bell to let us know when he needs to go outside. While he doesn’t bark, he’ll sigh or huff to get our attention if he needs something. He’s deeply loyal, always nearby without being needy, and is incredibly patient during grooming, happily tolerating baths and brushing. Moose enjoys playing fetch, going for walks, and bonding with our cat and other dogs. His calm, affectionate presence has been a wonderful addition to our family, and he’s a devoted companion to us and our three children. Moose lives in a Guardian Home with the Astins. He has a beautifully rich brown coat with a white chest and goatee, and he weighs in at 48 lbs.
nala
Nala is the epitome of a Portuguese Water Dog. Her energy and spunk radiate in everything that she does. When we wake up in the morning or when we get home from work, she immediately finds a toy and starts dancing around us in circles with something we call her "happy growl". She is very loyal to her family and can't help but follow us wherever we go. She thinks she is a lap dog and is often found curled up snoozing in our laps. She is extremely intelligent and is usually able to pick up a new trick reliably within two days. As a true portie, Nala is very athletic and loves to swim in any body of water that she can find. As the leader of the pack, she is our fearless protector and loves to watch out the window on high alert. Nala is our largest female at 55 lbs.
Winnie
Winnie is our sweet, sensitive girl with a zest for life. Whenever she sees us grab the leash, she immediately starts jumping around and doing what we call an “air chomp”. Even as a puppy, Winnie never had any issues with nipping, but she has developed an adorable air chomp as her way to show excitement or tell us that she needs to go outside. Winnie has a true passion for swimming and can occasionally be seen diving under water to retrieve sticks and rocks. Although she does love to play and wrestle with her sister Nala, she tends to be more mild mannered and easy going. Winnie loves her humans fearlessly but can get a little shy when meeting new people and dogs. It's a good thing that she is easy to please because all it takes is a good belly rub and a treat, and she has so much love to give. Winnie weighs in at at 48 lbs.
Willow
Willow is a fun-loving and affectionate companion with a personality that shines. When she's happy, she wiggles with her entire body, just like her dad, Bear. She's always by our side, following us around in hopes of getting a scratch or a belly rub. Willow loves lounging on her pillow, happily chewing on her Nylabones. Friendly and playful, she enjoys interacting with other dogs and has a natural confidence. She often gently places her paw on your leg as a sweet way to ask for affection. Willow also knows how to have fun. She loves wrestling with her parents, Bear and Luna. Especially wonderful with kids, Willow is adored by the five young children in our family (ages (5-12), always seeking them out for attention. With her stunning black coat, white markings, and unique white-tipped tail, she's a real standout. Willow weighs in at 45 lbs.
luna - retired
Luna is the ideal family companion. She has a very easy-going temperament and is always excited to be with us. She loves to be wherever we are, which makes her a true “velcro” or “shadow” portie. She is very content to gently lay her head on a lap and be close to us. She also knows how to have fun and loves to wrestle with Bear and play fetch in the backyard. She is very patient with the kids, even with they get a little crazy. Like the rest of her dog family, she is very quick and eager to pick up on new tricks. We love her black coat, white tuxedo with socks, and beautiful brown eyes. Luna is our smallest female at 40 lbs.
